It all started in 1989 when a Sicilian and a Neapolitan came to London together with the dream of bringing the real Southern Italian antipasti (starters), pastas and, of course, the now famous wooden-fired pizzas by the metre. They opened their first restaurant in Kings Road called Made in Italy. Due to its success it was followed by Napule’ (Fulham), and then by Santa Lucia (Chelsea), Luna Rossa (Notting Hill) and Regina Margherita (Angel). In August 2009 a new restaurant has been opened in James St, close to the busy Oxford St, and in July 2010 the last opening in Soho.
At the moment the Made in Italy Group consists of six restaurants located in the best London areas and recently opened a mozzarella and ricotta production centre where Neapolitan cheese makers use the freshest local milk delivered daily and buffalo Italian milk delivered twice a week.
The expansion of the Group will carry on with new openings such as the Mozzarella Bar in Kings Rd.
What makes Made in Italy Group different from other Italian restaurants is that it provides the most authentic dining experience. This means no compromises: over 90% of our ingredients are imported straight from Italy to our kitchens and thanks to the new cheese production the freshest genuine mozzarella you can get in London is being served in the Made in Italy restaurants.
Made in Italy Group is NOSTALGIA; nostalgia for the aroma of oranges ripening in the sun, nostalgia for the sound of waves on the Amalfi coast, nostalgia for the smell of a tomato sauce bubbling on the fire. Made in Italy Group is a NEED; a need for us to bring a little bit of our Southern Italian homeland with us to the UK.
